I competed in my first Junior Olympics this year. It was held in Virginia Beach. It was 3 days long. I only did 4-6 routines every day. I did not eat much at all. I bought a baton and costume for my doll Ella. Back stage might sound fancy but it was not at all. It wasn't bad but it was just a black curtain with a hole in it. The cool thing about back stage is that you are allowed to stick your head out to watch the twirlers that are on. It is fun to watch the other twirlers. I had lots of fun.
I met some other twirlers there too. They were all nice. I met a few twirlers from Georgia and one from Pennsylvania. There was another one from Ohio. We practiced with the Southest Area Twirler. Coach Kandi Staples is really nice! I might have a practice with her and her twirlers.
I was at the gym for 11 or 12 hours every day. There were a lot of people there ( almost 3 thousand people!). It was kind of hard to remember 10 routines. I had practiced 6 days a week leading up to Jr. Olympics. It is going to be hard to practice now that I'm on the road. One gold, two silver, and four coper.
The award ceremony was cool. There was a cool podium thing that went up to 6 th place. I got 4 meatals for teams and two for solo.
We boarded the dogs for 3 days. They were right across from the place where I twirled. They stayed with a lady named Samantha. She let the dogs go on the elevator. The dogs are so very lucky.
My grandma and grandpa and two cousins were there to cheer me on. My bestie and her family drove all the way from Florida to surprise me and were there to cheer me on too!
We camped in a KOA for the week with my grand parents. They camped in a cabin across the street from me. The KOA was awesome! It had two huge pools, one with two water slides. A guy that made just about every thing you can think of made out of wood and My mom got a sign from him. KOA means Kampgrounds Of America. The KOA had two jump pads.
The wrestlers were next to us in the gym. The Ohio state wrestlers creamed the -ichigan wrestlers. We are not allowed to say that word with an M. It is considered a cuss word in our house. It was like putting a killer eagle and a mouse in a closed room together.
It took me a full week to catch up on sleep. Not to mention that the washer shakes the whole camper and wakes you up in the middle of the night.
The next Jr. Olympics is in Dallas, Texas. I can't wait! It will be lots of fun!
