The one feature Brutus didn't have when we brought him home was a spray-in bed liner. Luckily that worked out in our favor since I had to travel to Phoenix this past week. That allowed me to leave him with Jennifer and the guys at Truck-FX. What a great job they did as usual...now my bed is damn near bullet proof!
While we were working on the backside, we also added the TonnoPro cover. It is so easy to put on and take off, I absolutely love it. I still have some adjusting to do to get it just right, but I can already see the difference in the gas mileage...well worth the money!
One of the coolest things Brutus has going for him is the factory fifth wheel prep. That means the mounts already exist and are part of the frame. In order to use those mounts though, you have two choices. Mopar makes what is called a "picture frame adapter" which you can purchase for about $600...or you can buy the same damn thing from Reese for $300. It literally drops into the mounts, you turn the four arms and lock them in place, and that's it. Super easy, super secure, and super clean. The one potential downside is weight...it's about 100 lbs by itself, but if you've got the truck to use it, I'd sure think you'd have room for the weight.
Once that is in then the next step is to drop in the fifth wheel hitch. It literally drops into the slots, you slide your pins in and you are done! Love it!
The last little addition is the Dee Zee DZ43301 Tailgate Assist Shock. The tailgate is a beast on this thing and with Aaron at his current height I knew it was just a matter of time before he ended up with a concussion if I didn't do something. This was a great solution. Just $20 and no more worries. Install was simple and it's worked flawlessly. Highly recommended!
I've got one more little thing that should be here tomorrow. We'll get another update out then. Bye for now!
