Stuck in the mud

We had an awesome visit with my family in Virginia. The mountains are beautiful and for the most part the weather was gorgeous.

We started packing up early on Saturday to give us enough time to enjoy our last cookout for this visit. I'm glad we did because big storms were brewing and we were under a flash flood warning. It rained...a lot. The sky lit up for a few hours from lightening and the thunder forced all the dogs into hiding. The yard was under a couple inches of water but it drained soon after the rain stopped late that night.

Sunday morning we packed up, gave lots of hugs and said our goodbyes. We hooked up the camper and I made my way to the road to spot for Steve and watch for cars. Getting into the yard was an easy pull-in, getting out takes a little talent. Steve put the truck in reverse, gave it some gas and spun. He tried again...stuck. Into 4WD, gave it a good push...nothing. He tried to rock it back and forth...nothing.  We were stuck in the mud in the mountains!

My dad came to join in the fun and suggested firing up the tractor. He backed up to the camper and they wrapped a chain around the bumper, put the truck in reverse and in less than 5 minutes we were on the paved road and ready to go.

Now we just had to worry about the low hanging branches for the two mile, windy drive to the Interstate. Next stop...Gettysburg, PA.
